Timing is set on the 4.7/5.7 by making sure the cam and everything is set right physically, then advance/retard is controlled by the pcm. The rotor is 1/8 thicker than 5.7l oem pump, but, they must make up for it in narrowing down the case, because the distance between the back of the pump to the mount point and the front of the pump to the mount point is the same, so it should fit in the same space. Remove the wand from it and put a 1/8 npt to hose fitting on the end.

Take your spark plugs out, pull the asd and fuel pump relays, crank it in two bursts of 30 seconds and allow the starter to cool for 5, repeat again and you will have he system more primed than if you left it sitting a few days. The 2 spots for a bb are dot to dot (6/12 o'clock) which will be with the marks on tdc for one head (i forget which one, might be pass side) and 3/4 turn back ccw (#8 firing) for.
